BLOOM & BRUSH: A SPRING WILDFLOWER WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP

OVERVIEW: Let’s celebrate the spring season together with a relaxing, beginner-friendly watercolor workshop inspired by the beauty of California’s spring florals. Whether you’re new to painting or just looking for a joyful artistic escape, this workshop is designed to spark your creativity and leave you with a unique floral masterpiece!

DETAILS: 

10:00am to 12:30pm on Sunday, May 18th at the Pool Club

There is a $40 fee to cover for the materials provided. 

MATERIALS COVERED BY $40 FEE (Assuming 10 signups): paint set, water color paper pad & paper, and brushes

MATERIALS PEOPLE SHOULD BRING FROM HOME:

  • Drawing pencil and eraser
  • Paper towels or soft cloth to dry brushes
  • 2 plastic cups or containers (glass or ceramic ), one for mixing and one for clean water
  • Optional, but helpful: Drawing board

Welcome, setup and materials overview 

We’ll go through a brief intro of types of watercolor sets, brushes and paper

10:30 - 11:00

Watercolor basics and practice techniques

We’ll practice with water ratios, different brush strokes, wet on wet vs wet on dry techniques, gradients and washes, color mixing

11:00-11:30

Floral elements practice

Demos and practice, how to draw each flower and leaves

11:30-12:30

Final Floral composition

  • Start with a pencil sketch, minding overall composition (balance, spacing, layering)
  • Students create their own floral scene following the techniques they practiced earlier
